Breakout KC - Room 13

I was traveling for work and got in quite early, so I booked myself into an escape room where several others had signed up already. The group was a family and all were very nice and fun to get to know. They were also newbies, so excited about what would happen. When we got in, we did spend a lot of time confused, used all of our clues, and got trapped in the room.

Price:$$$28 per person

Theme:★★★The room wasn't quite what I expected, but it was still very neat.

Quality:★★★In good shape - a couple of torn items, but otherwise okay.

Difficulty:★★★★★There were some puzzles that really made very little sense until they were explained to us, and even then were quite abstract.

Fun:★★Parts were fun, but I spent a lot of time frustrated.

Escape Rooms HQ - Nuclear Shuttle

A fun Friday night for us with escaping from this room as a highlight. We had a great time once we got into it, even though we missed out on a few fairly obvious things (obvious once we figured them out but tricky until then). I love the thought that go into their rooms, and this one really pulled a lot of things together to make it out.

Price:$$$$30 per person

Theme:★★★★Very well done and we liked the layout and the variety.

Quality:★★★★Great maintenance of the room and well built.

Difficulty:★★★We were off to a slow start, but once we got into it things progressed well.

Fun:★★★There was something each person in our group was good at, so a bit of something for everyone.

Breakout Arlington - Kidnapping

The start to this room is similar to a couple of other rooms I've done, but it was a neat way to kick it off. There were some obvious and some less obvious things to solve in this room, but a variety of puzzles that each of us could contribute to. Also, some newly gained skills I have came in quite handy.

Price:$$$26 per person

Theme:★★★This was good, but also a little bland.

Quality:★★This was done pretty well, even though we missed some very obvious things and got out of order as a result.

Difficulty:★★A little easier than average, and with the number we had there were periods we sat down and did little.

Fun:★★★This was enjoyable, especially because of the birthday part the group we joined was having.

Escaping the Square - Dungeons

This was worth the drive out to Denton (not to mention stopping at the book and record shop on the square). We met up with a couple and had a great time going through these puzzles (some very neat ones in here). Would love to go back when they open their second room up.

Price:$$$$30 per person

Theme:★★★★Neat theme, although there were one of two things I was confused about how they fit in.

Quality:★★★Most everything was working well, but a few things had issues if you left them too long.

Difficulty:★★★This was about average, but how you start out was fun and challenging.

Fun:★★★★We had a great time - some neat puzzles included in the room, although some of them didn't quite fit the theme.

Escape Rooms HQ - End Run

This room was fun and we really cut it close for getting out - a great challenge. This was also fun because Evan previously worked with Enron in college as an intern, so there were some funny moments for us. This was just great, and the owner takes a real care in the quality of the room and the experience. Looking forward to more of their rooms - a really great experience.

Price:$$$$30 per person

Theme:★★★★★This was a fun theme and very well executed.

Quality:★★★★★Very well put together, with some challenges that really test your communication skills.

Difficulty:★★★★Definitely one of the trickier rooms we've done, complete with a puzzle that neither of us excels at but will be practicing.

Fun:★★★★★There was a lot of adrenaline and fun to be had.

1 Hour to Escape - The Ruins

Even with the threat of losing an hour over our heads, we decided to head out quite late for an escape room. And is it a good thing we did, because we set a record (the second in one day)! The owners here are nice and we spent some time chatting, and the room itself had a lot of thought and planning going into it. The overall game play was a little different than some of the other rooms in the area, which made the experience also a bit different (some things easier, some harder). There are some thing that could be better maintained, and which caused a few pinched fingers and blood blisters. But, we still had fun and made it out quickly! (And, yes, I'm wearing a t-shirt from another escape room in the photo.)

Price:$$$27 per person

Theme:★★★★The theme of this room was great, and every puzzle was tied into it very well.

Quality:There were a few broken items in here (none of the puzzles), and some of the decorations in particular show wear and tear.

Difficulty:★★Some of the individual puzzles took some effort, but overall this was a quick room for us.

Fun:★★★Some great puzzles made this fun, as well as the group we were in with.

Ultimate Escape Game Dallas - Roulette

We set a record! Woot! Sadly, we also finished all of their rooms at this location so eager to see what they come up with next so we can come back and do more. This room was fun we had a great time making our way out. The theme of the room, the puzzles, the props - everything was very well done. Make sure you read instructions. We'd love to hear if anyone breaks our record.

Price:$$$28 per person

Theme:★★★★★I loved how this came together, especially as there were some puzzles here that wouldn't work great with other themes.

Quality:★★★★As usual, very well put together.

Difficulty:★★This was (in our opinion) one of their easier room (which is likely why we were able to set a record).

Fun:★★★★★This was very fun, and some of the puzzles were just great. Even more so when a team member tripped and made a bigger mess.

Escape Rooms HQ - 0-Dark 30

We took my brother and sister-in-law to their first real escape room (does the one under my stairs count?). It was a few way to spend the evening with them and everyone had something to contribute towards us getting out in the end. Sadly, we didn't solve their extra bonus puzzle to win a free game, but the challenge here was great and love how much things tied together to get the final solution.

Price:$$$$30 per person

Theme:★★Overall, this was pretty neat, but there were a few things that we didn't know how they fit in (even though it made things more fun).

Quality:★★★★This was put together very well, and we only had issues in one area where we didn't follow instructions well...

Difficulty:★★★This was pretty typical for difficulty, with enough challenge to keep up on our feet the whole time.

Fun:★★★★There were several things in here that were flat out fun and we wanted to keep playing with those parts even though we needed to move on.
