Escape the Room - Agency

I really wanted to like this room, but I feel let down in a different way than with their heist room. While in the first experience the game master was a let down, our game master here was fantastic. The room itself was neat at the beginning, but without a coherent story and with progressively more confusing "theme", I really don't know what was going on here. We had a few fun puzzles (some we quite liked), but there were several that were frustrating and we spent more time that should be reasonable just staring, which was irritating. While we ultimately were successful, I was ready to leave long before we were done.

Price:$$$28 per person

Theme:Parts of this were neat, but overall there is no real story told and we really have no idea how elements in the room went together at all.

Quality:★★★Things worked well, even if we had concerns on what exactly those things were.

Difficulty:★★★There is a decent mix, but some of the things that took us the longest were just puzzles that were designed to take a while to solve, and due to some waiting.

Fun:★★I had fun at the beginning, but towards the end it felt like work and I was ready to be done.

Ultimate Escape Game - State Fair

We had a good time in this room - we both think this was a good move from the Dallas room. It kept the fun parts of that room and then really had a much more cohesive theme. To start off, you DEFINITELY need more than two people in here. There is so much content and so much to do that we never would have finished without all our clues at the end. If you want a room with a LOT going on, this is for you. On a second point, I like this room in place of the one it replaced. There are elements from that experience that come through, but the whole experience makes so much more sense and the "guess work" puzzle I hated is gone in this room. And, the touch of freshly popped popcorn at the end was a strong motivator.

Price:$$$28 per person

Theme:★★★★This theme is neat, and even more so the more you get through the experience. Where you end up is cram packed with fun puzzles and tons to look at and put together.

Quality:★★Overall, this was well done. However, we had something in the middle that completely didn't work, and our time had to be paused to reset the prop, and even that took a while. They were great about working with us to rectify, but be careful with things and you should be fine.

Difficulty:★★★SO MUCH TO DO. Again, way too much for the two of us alone. I think if we'd had two or three more with us, we would have needed much less help at the end.

Fun:★★★★Neat puzzles and a good mix of ideas and concepts. You cannot help but enjoy the decor and props to play with.

Escape Game Dallas - Playground

We were a bit mixed about this room and really what we were trying to accomplish, but we had fun accomplishing it. Mainly, we were thrown off by the name of the room from the start, but once we got past that and into the actual game, it was an okay and fun time. We definitely had to split up to get through, and there were some complicated puzzles to move through mixed in with some simpler ones.

Price:$$$$34.63 per person (had coupons)

Theme:★★When I first entered this room, I really didn't understand the name given to this room. It clears up slightly as you move through the game, but I was expecting something much different that I got here.

Quality:★★★Things were still in great shape, and everything worked (once we figured out what it was we were to do).

Difficulty:★★★This room has a mix of short successes and longer, more drawn out completion. There are so many directions to go, and there is always something to be working on.

Fun:★★★A little of a mixed review from the group, but this room has one of my favorite things to find in a room so I enjoyed that a lot and a few times.

PanIQ Room Dallas - Voodoo Spirits

After our quick exit from Wild West, we decided to jump right on into another room to wrap up the night. I'm glad we did - there were several fun puzzles in here, and everything fit together very well.

Price:$$$16 per person (with discount for rebooking the same day)

Theme:★★★★As with their other room, the theme in here was extremely well done and fun.

Quality:★★★Everything was nicely put together, even some of the tricky areas worked perfectly.

Difficulty:This was very easy for us, and we were able to get through the puzzles and finish very quickly. With a smaller group or new players, this would be perfect, but with our group we breezed through.

Fun:★★★We had fun, and the theme highly contributed to this experience.

PanIQ Room Dallas - Wild West

This was a fun night out for our team after trivia nearby, so we were ready for a really good night at the escape room. And we definitely had some fun here - right before we jumped into their other room.

Price:$$24 per person

Theme:★★★★This room looked great from start to finish, and the puzzles in the room really fit in with the theme. I feel like a lot of effort went into make the puzzles work really well with the theme.

Quality:★★★Things worked great - the only complaint would be that at the beginning it was very cramped for the size of our group.

Difficulty:There was something in here for everyone, so things there was someone in the group who could help on everything to help get us out early.

Fun:★★★This was very fun from start to finish.

A Room With A Clue - The Treehouse

This is a fun location and there is a lot to do in the area - dinner before the room, music in the bars nearby. It also lead to a lot of walk-ins, which is a nice thing I hadn't seen at most escape rooms. The lobby is fun and the staff is friendly. And the room was a good time - even with the difficult puzzles we enjoyed the experience.

Price:$$$29 per person

Theme:★★★★★This was so nicely done - you really feel like a kid would love this type of tree house. Even I would like to spend time in a room like this.

Quality:★★★Nicely done - everything worked and was well designed. Our difficulties (especially with on of the puzzles) were our own skill levels.

Difficulty:★★★A couple of the puzzles were quite challenging - nothing was easy in this room. But it was all doable and played to the skills of everyone in the room.

Fun:★★★This room is just fun - the theme sets that up from the start. We had a good time and enjoyed the theme, the puzzles, and the couple that joined us in the challenge.

Escape The Room Dallas - Western Bank Heist

The room had a great theme and we were very excited going into the experience. There was a very mixed reaction in our group for this escape room - some of our group really had fun, and others really didn't. I think what was hardest is that while there was clearly plenty to keep us engaged the full hour, there wasn't much to keep all 10 people in the room engaged that whole time, which resulted in several times where I stood there watching someone else do something or someone else stared at me. So, it has potential but a might benefit from a more experienced/friendlier/professional room operator and fewer people in the room at once.

Price:$$$28 per person

Theme:★★★★The theme is fantastic - a great idea and very well implemented. You can tell that this was thought out and it definitely shows.

Quality:★★This was very well built, although there were a few things that fell off (just decor) while we were in the room. All the devices that you needed to play were in good enough order, although there are definitely things that could be changed to make this a better experience (which the room operator was not receptive to even pretending to listening to at the end and irritated another person in the room who offered it to her).

Difficulty:★★Overall, the puzzles themselves weren't that difficult once you read the directions and had three or four different people try them. There were a couple that, while not hard, were just neat and a surprise.

Fun:I would start with saying that some people in our group enjoyed this more than others. However, some things were so frustrating that it took away from the experience. There are some puzzles that were not clear, some were just unclear what happened after completing them, and a lot of time spent standing around doing nothing because only one or two people (in a group of 10) could be doing something and everyone else was waiting on them so we could get the next puzzle.

Ultimate Escape Game Dallas - Roulette

We set a record! Woot! Sadly, we also finished all of their rooms at this location so eager to see what they come up with next so we can come back and do more. This room was fun we had a great time making our way out. The theme of the room, the puzzles, the props - everything was very well done. Make sure you read instructions. We'd love to hear if anyone breaks our record.

Price:$$$28 per person

Theme:★★★★★I loved how this came together, especially as there were some puzzles here that wouldn't work great with other themes.

Quality:★★★★As usual, very well put together.

Difficulty:★★This was (in our opinion) one of their easier room (which is likely why we were able to set a record).

Fun:★★★★★This was very fun, and some of the puzzles were just great. Even more so when a team member tripped and made a bigger mess.

Ultimate Escape Game Dallas - Dallas

After this room, we've escaped all but one of the current rooms available at this location. Today we got there a bit earlier and were happy to see some corn hole setup in the parking lot to keep us busy while waiting. Once all signed in and ready to go, we were paired up with seven others (who we later found out attend the same college we did). It was a good thing we had so many people, as we really did need all of the different ideas everyone presented to solve the puzzles. As the name of the room suggests, there were a lot of things that make you think about Dallas as you go through the experience, which was neat as we thought through things. If only we'd had some experience in the areas that were highlighted, I suspect this would have been easier, but there was enough context to figure things out and escape.

Price:$$$28 per person

Theme:★★This experience had some good decor that just kept getting better the longer you were in it.

Quality:★★There were a couple of puzzles in here that didn't work and we had to get help to make them work or to get the clue that was meant to come from them.

Difficulty:★★★We didn't solve a puzzle for the first 12 minutes, and there were a few times we all looked at each other like "what do we do now", but there were also some easier puzzles mixed in.

Fun:★★We had fun, especially as my mother- and brother-in-law got to escape a room this time.

Dallas Panic Room - Museum Heist

This was a very neat room, and we got paired up with a fantastic couple to complete it with. There were a lot of ways to get started, and we probably spent most of our time on those first few puzzles (as noted below, we messed one of the them up and thankfully one of our team mates had a good memory). There were some fun puzzles that played on the theme, too. This was a good time, and just kept getting better.

Price:$$$25 per person

Theme:★★★There were some really neat things in here, and it was really neat how it all came together in the experience. There were some neat surprises.

Quality:★★★★This was well put together and maintained - love how these puzzle worked.

Difficulty:★★★A lot of the puzzles were simple enough, but there were enough challenges to keep it interesting. As usual, we totally messed up one of the puzzles by trying to be smart about it, but it worked out in the end.

Fun:★★★★This was neat, and the longer we were in the more immersed we felt.

Ultimate Escape Game Dallas - Enigma

We had a fun time and some of these challenges were awesome - in some ways you really feel like you could have been doing this in real life (which is really such a wonderful thing about the rooms here - they do a fantastic job in making things realistic and suspenseful). The were opportunities for us to break into pairs and work on different parts, which kept us all engaged. It was very nice that we all felt like we contributed and had things we were good at.

Price:$$$28 per person

Theme:★★★★The props and feel of the room were spot on - a real air of authenticity.

Quality:★★★★Very well arranged and put together - this was great.

Difficulty:★★★This was the perfect level of difficulty (or would have been had we not missed something very early on).

Fun:★★★We had fun due to some of the puzzles and interactions we had with them and each other.

Ultimate Escape Game Dallas - Amnesia

We had another great introduction to escape rooms and the room from Shiloh - he is quite amusing and cannot wait to see what comes for the other rooms here in those videos. There was clearly a lot of effort put into the design of the room and puzzles and this was a great experience. We got very good luck in the other three who joined us, as well, as they weren't afraid to try things out.

Price:$$$28 per person

Theme:★★★★★I think this is the best themed room at this location - very neat.

Quality:★★★★★This was well put together and nicely done.

Difficulty:★★★There were some challenging puzzles (and creative too) and we liked how everyone in the group was able to contribute.

Fun:★★★★We had fun and the room design and puzzles really prompted this. The group we were paired with were also helpful.

Ultimate Escape Game Dallas - The Vault

We had fun in this room, from the puzzles to the decoration. We were paired with two others who we felt pretty sure were attending on a date, so it was mildly interesting to watch how they worked together. It was also their first escape room, so that was also neat to watch. Anyways, the room itself was fun and well made and just a blast to complete.

Price:$$$28 per person

Theme:★★★★Had a great vibe and was well themed for the purpose.

Quality:★★★★Things worked great - even some of the trickier things we've seen fail in other rooms.

Difficulty:★★★There were some challenges, and some unique puzzles, but these puzzles were fun and intriguing more than hard.

Fun:★★★★There were a lot of fun puzzles and the theme and environment made this fun real at points.

Ultimate Escape Game Dallas - Hackers

This was our first room at Ultimate Escape Game Dallas and one of the reasons we've kept going back. This is a great location and there is plenty nearby to grab dinner before or after doing a room. The team that gets you ready gives you a good intro, but not so long that you wish it were over, then you get two videos starring a guy with creepy hair when you enter the room. One goes over rules in general and is short; the other is also short and discusses your scenario and what you need to escape at the end (all of their rooms have something like this). There were a lot of fun things in this room that honestly were a bit distracting as we wanted to play with them, but didn't keep us from our goal. Also, there were puzzles to cater to each of our strengths, although Ellie was a rock star and got quite a few of these before we had all of the info due to her super-sleuthing abilities.

Price:$$$28 per person

Theme:★★There was a theme, but some of the parts seemed inconsistent and maybe better in a different story.

Quality:★★★★Everything in here worked well - we've been in other rooms with a few similar challenges where they didn't work, and they were all good here.

Difficulty:★★There was some challenge, but a lot of these played on Ellie's strengths so we were able to solve some very quickly.

Fun:★★This was enjoyable but some of the inconsistencies in the theme distracted.
