Mission Escape Games - Escape the Hydeout

This was a great experience from start to finish. We walked into the building and met another group who was to join up with us playing a game of Jenga and got along right from the start. The room was very well done, from the theme to the puzzles. We really liked how well the puzzles went with the theme and didn't appear to just be added to have a puzzle. We probably did a little more moving around of things than needed, but in the end made it out with time to spare.

Theme:★★★★★Awesome theme. The idea was well thought out and well implemented, and the puzzles really fit into the them.

Quality:★★★Everything was in good shape and in working order.

Difficulty:★★★Very neat, with puzzles tying into the theme and a reasonable about of thinking required.

Fun:★★★★★We had a great time in this room - in large part because the theme was great, as were the people we teamed up with.

OMEscape - Room X

The design behind this room was great and adds elements to the game that would (in groups of more than 2) really add to the challenge and fun of the game. We would have liked to try it without the adjustments they made for our small group, as we made it out quite quickly with the modifications in place. Either way, it was fun and there were some neat things to play with. A couple of the puzzles were harder because we didn't think about a few things (a theme for us this day was our lack of observation skills). But this was a great time and if we make it back to NYC we'd definitely do another room here.

Theme:★★We have to admit to not knowing what the them really was for this room because we didn't pay very good attention to that. Whoops...

Quality:★★★★In great shape and very well organized. We had a few issues with one puzzle, but even that we were able to make work.

Difficulty:★★This was great, although I suspect different when you have more than two people. They adjusted the room for us because were were such a small group.

Fun:★★★We enjoyed how the puzzles worked in this game quite a bit, and there were some fun things to play with. We also really like how one of the items was delivered to us.

Escape This - Pathogen

We got out of this room at 59:59 - talk about cutting it close! It got stressful towards the end, as we missed some of the more obvious puzzles and had to get hints on those. We also mixed up a few clues that got us to the wrong answer a few times, but were able to clear that up. We absolutely loved one of the puzzles in here and haven't seen something used in that way before, so that was a neat game to play.

Theme:★★★★Great idea, and great progression from beginning to end.

Quality:★★★★This was in really great shape, even things that in other rooms I've seen broken were well maintained here.

Difficulty:★★★★There were some super challenging puzzles in this room, and a lot of things to look for to solve them. The "how to" introduction was helpful, as we maybe not have gotten that on our own.

Fun:★★We had fun, but we also had a lot of frustration. There were parts that just led us the wrong way.

Escape This - Epicurian

We had a great time hear with the group we were paired up with (we always are a little hesitant when we get paired with kids, but this worked out great this time). There was so much going on in the room at times it was a little hectic, and we got a little ahead of ourselves a few times on the puzzles, but worked it out in the end. The concept behind the room is fun and a lot of the props are excellent.

Price:$$$29 per person

Theme:★★★This was a good concept and had a lot of different ideas to support it, and many of the puzzles played together and really relied on the theme to help you get through.

Quality:★★★Some very neat things that have been maintained well (but I'd hate to be the person to reset this room after we demolished it).

Difficulty:★★★There were some harder puzzles in here, and some of the puzzles were neat in that they didn't just set you up to solve the next one.

Fun:★★★This was fun and we were able to split up and do different things, but the first puzzle we worked on took a while and wasn't all that fun. Later puzzles were much more interesting.
